Georgia wins in OT! And the Honeymoon is over!

September 24th, 2007 | by Ethanator1088 |

Georgia was ranked #22, and Alabama was ranked #16. What an exciting win if you are a Georgia fan. I personally thought that the rankings should have been switched before the game. Georgia has been a perennial power house. Coach Richt always has his boys ready to play.  Georgia has a rising star under center, Matthew Stafford.

Alabama, on the other hand, had national hype due to their new head coach, Nick Saban. Then their hype was accelerated by beating Arkansas, which lost to Kentucky this week. Please understand, Alabama is a very talented team. Georgia is just a very good program. Coach Saban is building a program.  Coach Richt has already established one.

I say the honeymoon is over because, Alabama fans have only noticed Jolly Old Saint Nick. Sure, he has not been the nicest coach. Sure, he has been a little rude. Sure, he has pushed away the T-town media. None of that mattered because, Alabama has been undefeated since he got off the charter flight from Miami.

Coach Saban was rude to everyone during the  ” Honeymoon ” stage.  How rude do you think he will be now that he has lost a game? His rants and ravings will now be seen as ” Nicktatorship “. He has built up that nick name at his previous coaching stops. He was given a press pass, if you will, until now. It will be interesting to see how he plays the T-Town  media now.

Not so fast my friend…..The Honeymoon is not over…as a matter of fact it’s just getting started. Let me drop a little knowledge on you. Gene Stallings went 7-5 in his first year at the Capstone, he won a national title in just his 3rd season. Bear Bryant went a dismal 5-4-1 in his first season, wanna know how long it took him to win a national title; 4 years. I was at the game on Saturday, while walking out of the stadium I didnt hear one person cussing, dogging, putting down Coach Saban, as a matter of fact all I heard was praise for Saban the Great! Alabama fans were not expecting a National Title, contrary to popular belief, we understand that its gonna take atleast 3 years to compete for the National Championship. As for this year, no one will even remember this loss if we win, oh lets say 2 more games, maybe tennesee and auburn

Thanks for the comment Mr. Abercrombie. I agree that the world is not falling down around Bama nation. That is not what I meant. I meant that Saban will now have to watch himself a little. He was untouchable since he got off that plane.

Alabama fans have every reason to stand by him and feel great about this season. 3 and 1 is outstanding compared to last year. The team is playing ” team ” ball and Saban has them believing.

I kind of meant that the honeymoon is over between Saban and the T-town media.

Being a Georgia fan I am glad we won this one but if you look at the standings all that stands between Alabama and a trip to the SEC Championship game is LSU and they meet next weekend.

    Should be a great game..!
