SEC football week 7 review!

October 15th, 2007 | by Ethanator1088 |

What an awesome week in SEC college football. We learned a lot about each team. Some coaching seats got hotter and some cooled off.

#17 Kentucky 43, #1 LSU 37

Kentucky knocks off top ranked LSU in a triple over time thriller. Les Miles blames himself. I blame Andre Woodson and Butch Davis. Kentucky is playing inspired football. Woodson is the clear cut leader of the football team. I wrote in an earlier post, if Kentucky wins the next 2 weeks, it would be their biggest wins since the Bear was there. Well, they are really close. Kentucky has Florida this week, and LSU has Auburn.

#7 South Carolina 21, North Carolina 15

The South Carolina Gamecocks are flying high. Spurrier has a QB he can call his own. We all knew he just needed a little time. I tried to tell Gene this in an earlier post but he would not accept that the ACC is not the SEC.

#22 Auburn 9, Arkansas 7

What an epic defensive game. This was the immovable object against the unstoppable force. The Auburn defense stopped the Arkansas running attack, except for one TD drive. Auburn held the “best” running back duo in the country to only 85 rushing yards. Auburn then showed off their own stable of running backs with 189 total rushing yards. Who is at the top of the SEC West now?

Alabama 27, Ole Miss 24

Coach Saban did what he was hired to do. He won the game he was supposed to. Alabama can not erase the past few years when they are losing to Mississippi State, as they did last year. This was another excellent game. I did not like the ending. I do not like it when refs are that involved in determining the winner. The play was to close to overturn in my opinion. Now, do not say that I am a Bama hater. I do not mind that they won. I only mind that the ref determined the outcome. I thought that the Alabama defensive player crowded the offensive player out of bounds. It may not have been a push, but it was definitely a crowd out. I hate to see any game end like that.

#25 Tennessee 33, Mississippi State 21

Fulmer is getting a little comfortable in his coaching seat. Croom is doing the same. Mississippi made it a game for a while, and that is all the fans in Starkville want this year. They were tired of being the laughing stock of the SEC. Croom has them turning things around. No one wants to play Miss. State right now. Tennessee is 4-2 and they are sitting pretty with a 2-1 conference record.

#24 Georgia 20, Vanderbilt 17

Georgia avenged their loss last year to Vandy. The Commodores had them against the ropes at half time 17-7. Then the bulldogs scored 13 unanswered points to win the game. Stafford was efficient and they finally had a running attack with Moreno rushing for 156 yards. The Dawgs are 5-2 and continue to prove that they are one of the best programs in the nation.
