LSU vs. Alabama, prediction

October 28th, 2007 | by Ethanator1088 |

LSU Tigers vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide. This is one of the biggest, most anticipated, games of the year. Saban coaches against the team he coached to a national title. The national media will have a field day making this game into a circus. They will try to find as many angles as possible to make this game sound interesting.Well guess what, this game needs no introduction. This game does not need dressing up. This is a huge SEC West match up. Both teams have one loss in conference play. The winner of this game will most likely win the West. They will definitely hold their own destiny.LSU has had a great season including last second wins. They are playing for an SEC championship. They have are playing for a national championship. They are playing to prove that they do not need Saban to be a champion. They are playing to prove they are a force to be reckoned with, and the Kentucky game was a fluke. A win this Saturday will bring those things closer to reality.

Bama has had a great season with last second wins. They are playing for the SEC championship. They are playing to prove that Saban has brought them back into the national picture. They are playing for pride. They are playing to put the Book scandal behind them. They are playing to put the probation officially behind them. If they win Saturday, all of those things will be closer to reality.

Both of these teams have proven me wrong all season. Saban has taught the Crimson Tide to win again. No one can deny that. Les Miles has been “gutsy” with his team, and most of the time it has worked. My head tells me to pick LSU to win because of all of the talent and the record. My gut tells me to go with Bama and “Saban Nation“.

I choose my gut. Alabma will win in a shocker. I think that Saban has shown amazing coaching this year. I think that his Tennessee win was outstanding. When you look back, it looks more impressive. Tennessee is #2 in the SEC East right now. My picks have a lot to do with the Coach. I think that is huge in college athletics. Saban is a college coach, not a pro coach. :-)

Here is a video of College Gameday picking the winner of this game. The only kicker is that this was shot before the season began. It is still very interesting.

Here is a promotional video of the game put out by an LSU fan.

I say Alabama because they are hungry right now.

Yet both teams have had a “bye” week to prepare.

Alabama at home maybe gives them the edge but I am sure LSU would like nothing more than to beat Saban on his new home turf.

Another great SEC matchup, it gets better everyweek.

I think you’re right, Alabama could pull it off. LSU hasn’t really won a big road game this season. So I do like the Crimson Tide’s chances in this one. But something tells me this may end up like the SC/LSU game… an unspectacular yet solid LSU win. I bet Dorsey wants to ambush the next o-lineman he sees… too bad for the Crimson Tide, good for the Tigers

LSU has way to many weapons.
alabama will come out strong, being at home and all but by the forth quarter LSU will just be to strong.

“This is a huge SEC East match up.”

….LSU and Alabama are in the SEC WEST, not the SEC East.

That said (and I am a Bama fan) I believe LSU will win. It makes me sick to say so but I think they will take the lead early, never relinquish it and win by 2 touchdowns. I just think that’s the reality.

What I like about BAMA’s chances for an upset are the return of the suspended players from the Book debacle (will BAMA NEVER learn?) and the fact that Major Applewhite (presumably) has finally taught John Parker Wilson how to throw the football. Wilson has loads of talent but the arching airballs he wafts high in the air make me insane. Up until the lat two games he only threw the ball hard, straight and fast when BAMA was about to lose in the last few minutes of the game.

That has changed and I am very impressed with his his new and improved throwing.

I’ve got my fingers crossed and I will be cheering BAMA on come Saturday at 5pm…ROLL TIDE!

Alabama will win a shocker, while visiting Lus might be a sleeper in the first half they will come out strong in the second half, but they will call a gutsy play with just a few seconds left and its wont work.

Great game. you have to hand it to LSU.

LSU had the penalties against them. They had the turnovers against them. Dorsey was hobbling. The things that LSU had going for them were the replays and Steltz at the end. That was an awesome tackle. I am glad SEC still has a team in the hunt for the National championship.

I dont understand why LSU fans are so hung up on Saban returning to the SEC at Bama. What did you expect the man to do, come back and tell Les to hit the road! Spurrier left Florida and then came back to the SEC, and do you know why? Because the SEC is simply the best place in college to coach. I think it is time for LSU to focus on what is at hand, a possible National title! What more do you want? All of this crying makes it sound like LSU fans are not all that happy with Les, is that really how you want your head coach to feel? I hate that Bama lost to LSU, but with that said, I want the SEC to be represented in the National game.
