Georgia vs Auburn, prediction

Posted on 04 November 2007 by Ethan Jaynes

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers, The oldest rivalry in the Deep South. This match up is always good. These are two of the best schools in the SEC every year. These are two of the longest tenured coaches in the SEC. Both schools have tremendous respect for each other. Both schools really need this game to put an exclamation point on their season. Georgia vs. Auburn is always a good game and is a sign that the football season is winding down.

Georgia is 1st in the SEC East. They lost to Tennessee. Tennessee holds their own destiny, because they have the tiebreaker. Georgia needs to win out, just to be in the picture. Here recently, Georgia has found a running attack with Knowshon Moreno. 178 carries 1003 rushing yards 5.6 Yards per carry 9 TD runs. The freshman running back put up most of those numbers in their last three wins against Vanderbilt, Florida, and Troy. Before he showed up, Georgia looked pitiful. You can look back at the Tennessee game for an example. Georgia was predictable and was embarrassed @ Tennessee in a 35-14 loss. That was only four games ago, but it is amazing how a great running back affects your whole team.

Auburn is tied second in the West, but does not have a tiebreaker against LSU. They are most likely out of the SEC East Championship, but they could still get a very good bowl game and end this season on a high note with wins against Georgia and Alabama. Cox is playing lights out, after starting this season terribly. The secret of his comeback can be summed up by two words “Running Attack “. Lester was out at the beginning of the season and the other backs looked lost. Now they are clicking on all cylinders. Lester, Fannin, and Tate are the three headed running attack for Auburn. They are lead blocked by senior fullback Carl Stewart. Carl Stewart can catch a pass out of the backfield and could start for many SEC schools at running back. With all of this talent around Brandon Cox, it is no wonder that he has turned his season around.

Both of these teams embarrassed Florida. Florida is a great team. Those two facts make this game a hard game to predict. Both teams can show up in big games and they are both on awesome rolls. My predictions weigh heavily on team momentum, quality of wins, quality of coach, and quality of players.

My prediction goes to Auburn. Georgia struggled a little against Troy last week. They needed every bit of Moreno’s 196 rushing yards. I think that Auburns stable of running backs have put Cox in a total state of comfort. He completed over 80% of his passes last week and he has only thrown one interception since their loss to Mississippi State in September.

That is just what I think. You can vote on the poll or go to the forums to talk about the game. The forums are 100% easy, free, and fun. Click here to go to the forums.

Auburn has a fantastic defense, and their offense is playing well enough to win most of their games. Georgia has a great team and a coach who is a real class act.

That said, the road team usually wins, and I have to favor Auburn.

I’m a huge Georgia fan. Moreno is awesome. He runs plays and just hops right back up and gets back in the huddle. He is the next Herschel Walker. This is going to be a great game and it is hard to say who will come out on top. I think Georgia will win this one and it would be nice if they walked all over Auburn like last year because I hate Auburn

I have sat through many Aub-GA games in Sanford Stadium since 1978. Auburn always comes to play and their fans are extremely loyal. You have to respect that. I actually pull for Auburn until they play the Dawgs. This week, I hate them! I believe UGA comes out on top this year in a tight one. I’ll be in the stands wearing black. GO DAWGS!!!

Auburn loses to Georgia for the second straight year. This has always been a nice rivalry, but I think it might start to get a little chippy. Georgia busts out the black uniforms, and they bust out with several personal fouls. On top of all that, they win the game, and they do it convincingly.

Cox could not get anything going. Auburns running attack was non existent. Or at least it did not have a factor on the game. Auburns lack of wide great receivers was evident.

Georgia looked great. Knowshon Moreno looked special. That is the superlative for him. ” Special “. Dmac was special last year. Tebow is special, Walker and Bo were special. I am not saying he will do all of those things but he looks ” Special “. :D

Starting next week. I am going to start a new topic forum for games of the week. That way the conversation is in only one place and the team forums can be for recruiting, injuries, and fan talk.

Little late on this one but Georgia shinned on Saturday.

Moreno is special and i think the best is yet to come.

Georgia has peeked at the right time and the only thing that remains to be seen is can someone please beat Tenn.

Either way i feel good about what I have seen the last several weeks out of these kids….

    GO DAWGS!

The Dawgs looked good. The Dawgs looked aggressive. Just how I like my SEC football. Nice to see TN will be the team beat, or try to anyway. lol Congrats to the Dawgs, a convincing and deserving win.
