This will be an Iron bowl that fans will remember for a long time. There are so many back stories. There are so many players that everyone knows. There is a great connection with the fans and players of both teams.
Tubby has murmurs about Texas A & M. Saban has a chance to redeem himself after 3 straight losses and comparing his La Monroe loss to 9-11 and Pearl Harbor. John Parker Wilson has a chance to redeem himself after a very bad stretch. Brandon Cox has a chance to be one of the few QB’s to have won every Iron Bowl they started in.
Auburn had a lot of weaknesses that were exploited by Georgia two weeks ago. The running game was laughable. The second half defense was horrible. There was definitely a total lack of team effort in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Georgia came out in Black uniforms and they had a G on them, but it might as well have been a Superman S. They were unstoppable. This game will be won if Auburn can find a running attack, Brandon Cox can get protection, and the Auburn defense plays 4 quarters. This is Auburn’s only chance to go to a nice bowl and stay in the top 25.
Alabama has a ton of controversy swirling around the team. The big two are the “book scandal“, and Saban’s thoughtless comparisons. I know for a fact that Saban will use this opportunity to unify his team. He will put them against the world. He gets all or most of the “book scandal” players back, and DJ Hall should play the whole game. With the whole team back, and unified, they could play like they did against Tennessee. This is most likely Bama’s only chance to go to a bowl. As I said in an earlier post, if Saban wins this game, most Bama fans will forgive him.
I pick Auburn to win. This pretty much the same team that Shula had. Saban has them playing a lot better than Shula did. Saban has made strides as the Crimson Tide head coach, but Auburn is an established program. They have had 2 weeks to prepare. I think they can fix the Georgia game problems. Bama will have one of the best recruiting classes in the nation and will start to establish themselves next year.
This is the best Rivalry in all of sports. It is a shame that CBS pulled it in favor of a FSU vs. Florida game. That game will not even be a contest. Here are some videos just for yall.
This is the 1985 Iron Bowl intro. This is Keith Jackson Baby. You have got to love that voice.
Cute video I found. This gives you an idea of how big this game is in this state. Very cute baby girl. Very proud parents.

A reader named dave wrote this but put it on the wrong page.
Alabama had nothing to lose in this game against Auburn, why play the game so conservatively? When it’s fourth and one, and you’re behind by ten points with a horrible record, the coach should show some spunk.
Also why was Wilson throwing short passes with the clock running out, doesn’t make any sense? I saw very few long passes and a trend to keep the same failing running plays alive.
Bama defeated itself in at least three of the games it lost this year and the inconsistencies seemed limitless. I couldn’t ever figure out which Alabama team was going to show up from Saturday to Saturday, the fired-up efficient team like the one that played Arkansas and LSU,(they should have beat LSU except for the fact that they once again shot themselves in the foot) or the incredibly confused and disorganized team e.g. the Bama/ Louisiana-Monroe game.
Now how much do they pay Saban, I believe we need a refund?

I couldnt agree more with dave! I mean look @ the game against Tennessee! We schooled them and it was that game that blew tha lid off my season expectations. Later I was realized I was sorely mislead. I mean tha Monroe game, what tha hell? Tha Mississippi game who had lost to Bama 7 yrs straight even when tha Tide was on suspensions and probation we managed to beat’em. Then here they were looking to be a serious contender for tha SEC Championship…then they began a steady decline….so anyways Nick Saban I pray the rumors are true and Ford rips up your big $$$,$$$ contract after reviewing the seasons standings!I believe a coach who has a lot more to lose will definitely be a hella lot more motivated and passionate about the game, so once all your sponsors drop ya you’ll pull ya head outta your azz! ~SKiLLz~
NOTE: I still say we got excellent players they just lack a coach with serious leadership skillz, a coach that keeps tract of his players, and we’d see SEC Champions not “book scandals”…anyway…thats all I got for now.
