SEC Coaches Hot Stove League! Where is your coach

Posted on 01 December 2007 by Ethan Jaynes

Tuberville to Arkansas? Les Miles to Michigan? Saban to LSU? Nutt to Ole Miss! Where is your coach going to be next year? Let us get right into it.

Orgeron was fired. That left Ole Miss open.

Nutt resigned and that left Arkansas open.

Nutt was hired at Ole Miss one day later.

Les Miles has a clause in his contract that says he can go to Michigan, if the job opens up.

Carr retired from the Michigan job. That left the Michigan job open.

Michigan still had to ask permission to talk to Les Miles. They did that this week and LSU will let them talk to Miles Monday.

Les Miles has the stipulation in his contract for a reason. He is a Michigan man and he will most likely take the job.

Tuberville was supposed to sign a contract extension at Auburn Thursday. He did not show up. That night there were reports out of Arkansas that Tuberville would be the next head coach at Arkansas.

Tuberville was hunting while the allegations were made of his Arkansas hire. He said he was mad about the rumors. Jacobs, the Auburn AD, said that Tuberville could not have been contacted because it states in his contract that Jacobs has to be contacted in order for any school to talk to Tuberville or Sexton, Tuberville’s agent. That leads one to believe that Tuberville is angry that the rumors were started, or that Tuberville is angry that the deal was leaked because he would be in breach of contract.

Sexton was at the Cowboys game Thursday night. Some people said he was talking to Jones, the Cowboys owner, about getting Arkansas enough money to hire Tuberville. Tuberville has about a $5 million buy out and Jones graduated from Arkansas. He is a huge booster.

Tuberville has not made any real statements since Thursday night, so he is either playing Arkansas to get more money from Auburn, or he is going to Arkansas. By the way, Tuberville wants more money for him and his assistants, and he wants newer facilities at Auburn.

Butch Davis is another big name for the Arkansas job.

Nick Saban is rumored to go to LSU. This is unfounded. There are no news links besides blogs and message boards.

Spurrier would be a good fit for LSU. There are no links for that, but there is chatter.

I will keep yall posted as the news comes in. Please leave a comment if you know of a fact I left out. This is not the news. This is a blog. I can make a mistake, but I am pretty sure of the statements above. I know we all take our SEC coaches seriously. I got the news from several news sites and other blogs. Too many to list.

That did not take long. I just went to http://www.trackemtigers.com/storyonly/2007/11/30/21530/376 . Tuberville has an extension on the table and he has a month to think about it. He got a fat raise, and we will hear more in the coming days about the assistant coaches raise. This will be very interesting how he plays the field and how long Arkansas will want to play. If Les Miles takes the Michigan job, that will open a can of worms. :-) this is great.

Miles just announced that he is going to stay at a press conference, and he told his team that. He was pretty convincing. Who knows now?

  7. Ethanator1088 Says:

Detroit news reports that Miles will not be coming. “I am the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach at LSU,” Miles said Saturday. “I have no interest in talking to anybody else.” . I guess if your money can talk your coach won’t walk. Auburn better learn from this. :-)

Yes,I would say he was more than a bit upset earlier but he should be happy now that they won the SEC.

Billy Donovan, and Nick Saban. Those are two names that will all bring us down to Earth. I will believe all statements when the ink is dry. I think you can throw Rich Rodriguez in there as well. These are stories that have all gone down in the past year.

Confirmed, Pelini is Nebraskas new Head Coach. http://mvn.com/ncaa-nebraska/2007/12/02/its-official-pelini-named-husker-head-coach/

This is the final word on Tuberville. He said is staying.

This is the final word on Les Miles. He said he is staying, but the contract has been put off.

Tommy Bowden, who was on Arkansas radar, is staying at Clemson.

The only open coaching seat is Arkansas and it looks like no one is jumping out of their seet to coach there. :-)

Lets all wait till we see the ink on the dotted line. This story is not done yet.

Grobe changed his mind. He will stay @ Wake Forest. This is the ESPN link to read about it. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3143977

  15. Ethanator1088 Says:

Petrino is the next head coach at Arkansas. He resigned at the Falcons. He coached 13 games in the pros and decided the grass was indeed greener in the college stadiums.
