2008 Capital One Bowl, Florida vs Michigan, prediction

December 12th, 2007 | by Ethanator1088 |

Tim Tebow with the HeismanFlorida Gators vs. the Michigan Wolverines in the 2007 Capital One Bowl. The Capital One Bowl is always a good match up. It pits two good schools from two of the best conferences. The SEC and Big Ten each have their own well-earned claim as the best conference. The debate is useless. The fan decides the winner from birth. :-)

This years Florida team is better than last year on offense. Compared to last years defense they look young, because that is what they are. During the season, they have developed and their talent and speed are glaring. Tim Tebow is the first sophomore to win the Heisman. He is the best Spread quarterback ever. He rushed for more TD’s than anyone in SEC history this year. You may not be a Tebow fan, but you have to be a Tebow respecter. They also have a guy named Harvin. Watch out for him as well.

The Spread option killed Michigan against Appalachian State and every spread option they faced. They have come a long way since the, now famous, Appalachian State loss. Mike HartMichigan has made strides. Hart is an excellent running back no matter what jersey you put on him. The Michigan players might rally for Carr’s last game. I would have also expected them to rally during the Ohio State game, which they lost.

The back-stories for this game are endless. This is a hater’s ball game.

Tim Tebow Haters

Everyone that does not hate Tebow, but thinks their player should have won the Heisman

Yankee haters

Big ten Haters

SEC haters

Red Neck haters

Lloyd Carr Haters

Urban Meyer Haters

Michigan Haters

Florida Haters

Etc… Haters

Half of everyone will be happy after the game and the other half will be filled with even more hatred. It is a vicious cycle. We all meet again in the 2009 Capital One Bowl. I pick Florida to win. They have so much speed/talent. Michigan was embarrassed by the spread offense. The Florida Gator spread offense might be the best ever.

The announcers will be Mike Patrick, Todd Blackledge

I definitely agree with this assessment. This is the one match up between the Big Ten and the SEC where the Big Ten team (Michigan in this case) is very over matched because they always struggle with spread offenses. Just think back to Syracuse and McNabb several years ago. It will get extremely interesting if it remains a one score game going into the fourth though.

I dont agree with this at all, Michigan has trouble against running qauterebacks not the spread offense and Tebow is not a running quaterback he is a smashmouth quaterback he will run in your face not all over the field Michigan wins a low scoring game 17- 14

Great Game Michigan. That was the Michigan team that was preseason #5.

That was not a bad showing by Florida. Michigan just out played them.

looks like ‘poop’ ended up having to eat his own name a couple seconds after the game. heh. UM finally won a tight game. It was a great ending to a bunch of seasons filled with mistakes. For once, UM’s mistakes didn’t cost them the game. It kind of looked like it would, yet again, but they finally stood up and showed what their talent level really is/was. (Or was it rigged? I guess Adrian Arrington’s catches couldn’t have been rigged). It was way closer than it looked, although that always scared me with UM. Florida is a really good team, and I think their opponents will have alot of trouble next year. Who let Illinois into the Rose Bowl anyways? made an a(( out of themselves. Man I want another UM vs UCFL errr USC matchup….. UM vs Florida, one of the best games of the postseason, period, even if it was closer than it looked.
PS the twin Adrian Arrington highlights were just sweet. Have some cheese, rats. that’s spanglish for ‘poop’.

UNBELIEVABLE! SEC fans are amazingly inconsistent. The criteria for why the SEC is better than the Big Ten continually changes. Two weeks ago the criteria was that the SEC’s speed is so great and the Big Ten is no match for the SEC. However, Michigan’s lightening fast defense rallied against Tim Tebow and the Florida offense. Now SEC fans have to change the criteria once again. Now it’s who has the best bowl record. Yet, when the Big Ten wins their bowl games SEC fans say, “well you didn’t play anybody.” Well, SEC, you didn’t play anybody either.” Here’s an oldie but goody. Who is the most successful quarterback in the NFL? Ooops, we can’t use that one anymore.
SEC Fans: Be consistent and stop playing situational ethics with the facts. Let’s establish a criteria for determining the best conference and stick with it.

Looks like your thinking was kin d of backwards.
Michigan took it right to them and Henne proved he was better than the Heisman winner
