2008 BCS National Championship, LSU vs Ohio State, Prediction
December 21st, 2007 | by Ethan Jaynes |
LSU Tigers vs. The Ohio State Buckeyes. This is the 2008 BCS National Championship. Lets not get caught up in which conference is the best. It is the SEC. Lets not get caught up with who played last year. It was Ohio State vs. Florida. Florida whooped Ohio State and looked good doing it. The main difference in this year and last year is the underdog. Ohio State is the underdog. I never count the underdog completely out. Remember what hey did to Miami in 2002.
Jim Tressel is one of the best coaches in college football. College athletics have a lot to do with the coaches. They only have one loss to Illinois. Ohio State might not have LSU’s impressive resume, speed, or talent, but they are in back to back National Championship games. Jim Tressel just has to get them to play perfect ball for 60 minutes. That is not asking much. Let’s also not forget how good Laurinaitis is, and how he can be a game changer.
Another glaring side story to this game is that Les Miles is Michigan man. Michigan cannot beat Ohio State. Can the coach, that Michigan could not get, beat Ohio State? It is Rich Rodriguez’s job now, but every Maize and Blue fan will be thinking about the “What ifs”. Les Miles had the Michigan job swirling over his head like a vulture until Rich took the job. Now Les can concentrate on the task at hand.
LSU cannot afford to be cute in this game. I do not expect too many trick plays from LSU, if they are healthy. LSU has had some last second victories. They also have a couple of losses. Those losses came in triple over time, but they were losses nonetheless. LSU has made some real gutsy plays. They had the last drive vs. Florida, and the last second TD pass against Auburn.
I pick LSU to win. There is no reason to pick Ohio State unless you are a big ten fan or you route for the underdog. Ohio State has a chance but there is no unbiased reason to
pick them to win. The SEC was the best conference. LSU was the SEC champion. The SEC has 3-4 teams that could play Ohio State well in the championship. I am not saying that the SEC is the best every year. I am saying that they were very dominant this year.
If Flynn is 100% healthy, and Dorsey is 100% healthy, I really look for LSU to dominate. When LSU is healthy, they are so very dangerous. Dorsey is a game changer. He took a bad shot in the Auburn game and has not looked the same since. Considering this will be his last college game, and he has had a month to rest, I think he will do great.
The only way Ohio State has a chance is if they play perfect football. The good news for Ohio State fans is that Coach Tressel knows that, and will most likely put together a game plan that they can perfectly execute. He will have them pumped and ready to play. Tressel has dominated in division one and division two. I give Ohio State a 15% chance. I give them a fighting chance because of the respect I have for Tressel.
The announcers will be Thom Brennaman and Charles Davis

Nice write up.
I completely agree that Ohio State is the underdog here…but I just can’t agree that LSU and the rest of the SEC are SO much faster. I know about the Florida game last year - I watched it in agony - and I agree that the Gators were WAY better and WAY faster that day….but it was only one game.
The Buckeyes have plenty of speed. The teams arent THAT different.
That game does not take away from what the Buckeyes accomplished up to that point….and their 4-0 BCS record heading into that game.
I know they have struggled against the SEC in bowl games, but in my opinion it wasn’t because of the speed.
Anyways - like the piece - just had a few things to say. Keep up the good work.
Oh 2 more things….
1. Tressel never coached in Division II
2. We won the Civil War….(hehehehe)…

The key here is LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton. If he can get Ohio State’s defense spread out and confused like Illinois did, it’s over. If he wants to run inside the tackles then he’s giving OSU a chance. Problem with Dorsey and Flynn is that one small misstep will put them out again. Perrilloux has to be ready to play hard. I think it’ll be closer than everyone thinks.

I thank you for the compliment. I personally think that Ohio State had more speed last year with Troy Smith and Ginn Jr.
I think that LSU is almost as good as last years Florida team. I think Ohio state is not as good as the 2006 Ohio State team. I do not see how we are going to see a different result.
to Mr. Andrew Perkins
I think Dorsey and Flynn are a couple of the best players in college football. I do not think a misstep will get them out of this game. I think a season of hard hits took its toll this season, but they have had a good bit of rest.

As a Buckeye supporter, I have to agree that OSU needs to play an exceptional game to win. I think they need to bring a new wrinkle with the offense to win it. They are young at many positions and we are quite happy to be in the BCSC Game in a rebuilding year. I would love to see this game played in the cold here in the north, it is basically a home game for LSU and the crowd will reflect it. That doesn’t help matters but, they can win this thing….ask Miami. One name to throw out there: Brandon Saine, if OSU can get him isolated with the ball…….

The writer has an obvious SEC bias, because the SEC is NOT dominant this year. When you tell folks like this MICH and PSU are both 5-2 against the SEC in bowl games since approx. 1990, they then look for some other reason to say how superior their brand of football is.
Dominant? Even Colin Cowherd said the SEC was not dominant this year. However, I do think they are the strongest conference this year, but certainly not dominant.
But, it’ll always be opinion versus opinion because there’s not enough head to head games between the confernces each year and there’s no playoffs either.

I call them like I see um Owl. I do not know any other way to explain it. The Big Ten was down this year. It is definitely not better than last year. The SEC is stronger this year than they were last year. Ohio State does have a chance because the SEC is not that much better, and they have an excellent bowl record. LSU is better and the SEC was better this year.
Before a season begins we should not say what conference is the best. The regular season is now over, and the SEC looked the best.
Now the fun will come when we see what conference does best in the bowls. The proof is in the pudding now. If you think that the Big Ten was just a hair under the SEC, then we will see it in the results.
Thanks for stopping by. I thank you very much for the comment. I stand by my prediction. I think it is unbiased. If the SEC was weak, I would say so. This was, in fact, one of the strongest regular seasons I can remember from the SEC. The Big Ten has had numerous great seasons, and this was not one of them. But hey, yall got a team in the National Championship.
P.S. I would not believe everything Colin Cowherd says.

LSU can leap tall buildings in a single bound! I know. I know. Why don’t we just hand the trophy to coach Miles and the gang right now. Yeah. Before the game is even played. And Guess what. My dad can beat up your dad, too.
Let me tell you what’s really going to happen. Ohio State will crush LSU and the so called “experts” of the sporting world will be speechless and say something stupid like… Where was the real LSU?
It is not about strength and speed, its about how tough your Defense is. When LSU’s QB gets happy feet in this game, the trainers will soon be standing over him with the smelling sauce ready to cart him off the field. Ohio State will not only win, but they will be delivering the pain to LSU players for all the talk that they aren’t good enough. Yes, dropping them off like dead flies in a world of stink my yellow and purple friends.
Tall buildings is a single bound? NOT.

No one is handing the trophy to LSU or anyone else. That is the point of a Championship game. I’m glad that these two teams have a chance to play, to showcase college football’s greatest talent.
I try not to brag about LSU’s talent and to place game predictions, because it’s humbling when we lose in triple overtime to other excellent SEC teams. You sound pretty sure of yourself…that’s when it comes back to bite you after the game.
It is about how tough your defense is, but it is also strength and speed and determination. You can talk about LSU’s happy feet and trick plays and risky last minute decisions…in the end, if you can’t play 4 quarters of tough football (which us in the SEC play almost every week) you don’t come away with a win. If nothing else was learned this season for LSU fans, you have to be prepared to stay the whole game.
Robb, be prepared for a full 4 quarters of real SEC football. Our team will be fully healthy and ready to play. We’ll see who will be “delivered the pain”
after the game is over. And if you were right, then you won’t have to be ashamed of your bold post.
Tall buildings in 4 solid quarters of football. I think so.

To state that OSU is virtually identical to LSU is a very sterile and purely analytical observation based on stats and rankings; purely contradictory to any stated resentment of the BCS system.
To truly compare these two teams one must equate the emotional aspect and level of intensity in which they play the game…. and I am SURE OSU fans can do this.
compare OSU to LSU in 4th down conversions… you cannot.
A Louisiana Judge has delayed a trial that was set to begin on Jan 7th… LSU football supersedes our due process of law in the bayou state :).
LSU has proven itself over the last 3 years under Miles as a team that has the ability to identify opponents and find second wind.
I agree whole heartedly about Coach Tressel..he is without a doubt one of the most intelligent men in NCAA sports… period.
and about the civil war I think you Ohio folks should do your history.. you are closer kin to us cajuns than you might think.
Tens of thousands of women from Louisiana were forcibly made to relocate to Ohio to work in Union textile plants the produced U.S. Army uniforms and the like… you are our cousins..
Look at how our government pisses on or constitution and bill of rights and tell me again who REALLY lost the war?
just food for thought.
I have been up here in Iowa for a couple years now… I miss home, and I am looking forward to the game.
good luck my Ohio Cousins… I hope for a good game.
If any of you have any doubts on the leve3l of fanaticism OSU will face in NOLA on Jan 7th please,I emplore you to watch a few episodes of varsity inc.

IowaCajun. I agree with you on one thing. I am an Ohioan whose mother is from Georgia. We are all one big family. I cringe when I hear people say the North “won” the war. It wasn’t a war to be won, just finished, which finally at the end it was. Civil Wars are never won. I am a huge follower of Military History and I greatly admire the tachtitians on both sides. As far as the game. Yeah the SEC was very strong this year and the Big Ten was unproven in many cases. A week two game against a team like Texas or USC would have been nice like in the past and future. But, you can never count the Bucks out. They always have a chance for some magic. It will be a great game. I can’t wait. Another battle of Thermopylaes hopefully. (Wait, they all died in the end) Maybe not quite like that. Goodluck!

what is up with everyone thinking ohio state is overrated. my god we they lost 1 game in 2 years and so what they lost the national championship last year. at least the got there. and this year was suppose to be their rebuilding year like notre dame but ohio state is going to the championship for the second time. i hate how LSU thinks they are so good when they are just the luckiest team i have ever seen. they barely win and they lost 2. they are NOT one of the best teams in the nation. not at all. they just think they are. im a huge ohio state fan and no matter if we win or lose at least we got the for the second year in a row. LSU does not deserve to go at alll. i hate LSU just as much as i hate michigan! i hope OSU kills LSU just to show everybody that ohio state is not overrated. LSU can go suck on that. GO BUCKEYES!!

Yeah, Lauranitis is good. You’re forgetting the rest of our defense. There’s a few other guys on our team.
There’s one little guy named Vernon Gholston. Go do a google photo search.

katie. So hateful you are. Its would be nice to see you back up your comments on why LSU sucks and they are just lucky. Look at strength of schedule and the conference. How many top 25 did OSU beat this year? AHHH yeah thats right one. I am not saying that OSU does not belong or that OSU is over rated. I think that they are a very good team and they deserve to be in NOLA on Jan 7th. I bleed purple and gold and i hope for a great game, and i think that everyone is going to get a great game. But com’on. Back up your comments on LSU and why they suck. And as was said about Robb was told earlier i hope that your bold comments dont come back to bite cha at the end of the game. Its sure to be a good one. BARN BURNER BABY

Doesn’t matter if Matt Flynn gets hurt. Actually, that would work in LSU’s favor as our back-up is the better of the two quarterbacks. LSU 41 OSU 9. The Big 10 is the new Big East. They don’t play anyone, and their conference is weak. The Big 12 was the obvious next best conference to the SEC, and it should be Oklahoma playing against LSU in the title game - not OSU. They don’t even play a conference championship game - gimme a break. OSU crybabies will need their hankies again after LSU makes OSU 0-9 lifetime in bowl games against SEC teams.

ethanator i agree with you all the way..illinios (who just got smashed by USC) has a running mobil qb (juice) . ryan perrilloux is a very mobil qb as well as a decent pocket passer. lsu has the most talent in the nation at the WR position by far. with flynn as a very accurate pocket paser there will be no question many points will be scored..to all big 10 fans..yes many points will be scored against osu. they are considerd to be the best defence in the nation against the pass and rush..who in the big 10 has a very powerfull offence? i give no one that credit. yes illinios might have a good offence suposivly which was the only team to beat OSU, but it obviously didnt work against USC.
and to katie..
who has OSU played in the top 25? and im not taling pre- season im talking about the rankings right now.. the answer to that question is 2 but illinios shouldnt even be ranked as high as they are but they didnt play any one neither..
and to every one who doesnt believe LSU should be in the national championship…
look at the strength of shedule..lsu destroyed v tech and were the SEC champs. they also had the best over all record in the best conference in the NCAA..look after all the bowls are over and see the SEC record.they jumped over georgia because georgia were not the conference champs. so the contraversy should be y does OSU get to play all these easy teams when lsu is stuck playing 5 teams with top 20 offences in the nation??
bottom line is OSU has no chance and will be destroyed..
By ragin cajun on Jan 1, 2008 | Reply
an add to my previous comment….
as i just explained in my previous responce lsu has a very very powerfull offence, but does OSU?
LSU nearly every week has to play in the SEC which by far has the most talent and speed which the big-10 lacks. OSU will be shocked again just like last year what happens when the QB is presured nearly very play. with dorcey and highsmith healthy OSU will have probles with getting many long plays..and yes Chris Wells might be amazing in the Big-10 but there is one big think the big-10 lacks…defence…
so yes Chris wells is running over every one in the conference but we will see what happens when he plays against LSU
score. lsu-38 OSU-7

The first order of business is to point out that despite a FEW losses in bowls the SEC is dominant without a shadow of a doubt (yes, that is biased). For any naysayers need I point out the 1 or 2 teams that conferences like the WAC and the Big 10 churn out with perfect or near perfect records is due to a lack of strong opposition? Albeit I refuse to predict a turnout in any college game I will still be rooting for the team that will bring my conference money and make OSU’s vs SEC bowl record to 0-9.
p.s. Nobody won the “War Between the States” it was simply a senseless bloodbath between northern rednecks and southern rednecks resulting from a racist manifest destiny pursuit of cheap labor.

Pay attention Ryan. Were you awake for the Michigan Florida game Ryan? Kinda puts a new light on SEC being better than the Big Ten, huh. Considering how Ohio State dismantled the wolverines and all. How many yards did rush for in that game again? Oh yeah, as many as we wanted…
With all the talk “we ain’t good enough” has brought the Buckeyes a cold fury washing over the players. Yes. I would say we have been left cold, ready, and dangerous.
The Ohio State LSU game will go something like this Ryan…
LSU slowly walked up with Media to stare down Mr Buckeye. “You ain’t tough enough to take this Tiger Buck.” Tiger said with a little swagger. “We are going to kill you and the Buckeye faithful.” Tiger and Media were talking up a killing, but Buck wasn’t waiting and shot the long haired Tiger through the belly. Buckeye’s quickness was unexpected. They expected Buck to talk, may hoping that buck would believe it himself. They were expecting words, but Buck just gave them the Pain. And Tiger just slid off his high horse to the ground defeated. Media was shocked at Bucks violence on the battle field. Media began to whimper like a baby after the smoke cleared. Buck just smiled and said… Who’s next?

Everywhere I read I see SEC fans thumping their chests over “speed” and “the spread offense” as the second coming and the way of football. Capital One Bowl showed that the fast spread isn’t the golden bb to take down the big bird. The Big 10 power offense can score, and score a lot on fast teams. The defense can play well enough to stop the bleeding. The Big 10 power line and fast L-Backers can put just enough pressure on the spread offense Q-Back to disrupt the pass and option, and stiffle the run. Don’t invest all of your money in the LSU way of football. Besides, LSU resembles more of a Big Ten Power set than any other SEC Team. This talk of speed might blow up in your face. Good Defense beats Good Offense in Football. Always has. My prediction. OSU 38 LSU 28. I am not saying LSU isn’t a good team. They are. But watch out for the OSU defense. We shut down a very powerful healthy UM Offense to 3 points who hung massive points on UF. I’d love to hear arguments against this thinking.

to robb…carr is retirering. he has lost his last 3 bowl games and today will be his last one. florida has a very young team and could care less what happend because they will be a big threat for the nationalchampionship this comming season. and OSU did not “dismantle” michigan..henne had the worst game of his career and so did hart. but bottom line is we will see what happens to the BIG POWER HOUSE OF BIG-10 FOOTBALL IN 5 DAYS.
to Buckey dat…
like i said previously… who has OSU’s defence had to go up against??? no one.. and UM played terrible against OSU and played to perfection against florida. i garentee florida on an up day would have killed them and no the turn overs dont count because the average field position of that game was on there oponents 36 yard line..and yes the SEC does have the most speed. and OSU will not score against LSU over 10 pointss.. LSU has one of the best offences in the NCAA playing in the SEC but bottom line we will see how the big bad run over every one in the big-10 buckeys strive against LSU.
and if i remember….
last year OSU had a much better team..and urban meyer after desamatin then said he can count 6 SEC teams that could have beat them just as bad as his gators did. and ALL of the OSU fans had the excuse that Oh tressel and smith were out on heisman commitments.. that doesnt even matter. the fact that the big-10 has these huge o-lines didnt stand a chance against floridas speed. and let me warn you LSU has just as much speed as Florida did last year but does OSU have a better chance against LSU…idk?
lsu will win by double digits

Sorry pal you can’t have it both ways. Every team has the capability to play perfect ball, and every team has the capability to play lousy ball. But you can’t in one breathe say a team or conference is superior or far superior than another, and then back peddle when faced with losses in bowl games and say “well they didn’t play perfect ball”.
The bowl game is supposed be the place where you put you money where your mouth is.

Listen, this is going to be a very good game. I’m an OSU fan and have been my whole life but I live in Florida and am very familiar with just how good the SEC is. The difference this year will be the defense of OSU. They really are very fast and very physical. I also believe that Ohio State overall has a better offense. The quarterback has a more accurate arm than Troy Smith and although he can’t run like Troy when you has Chris Wells in the backfield you’ve got a running threat that will open up the passing game. Add the fact that they will have a chip on their shoulder after last years embarassment and I think you have the same kind of potential as the Michigan vs Florida upset. Don’t forget that the same team that rolled up 500+ yards of total offense against Florida is the team that OSU held to under 100yds and 3 pts. I like OSU in a close game.

I love how people like ragin cajun think offenses are the only think in football. Defenses win games and offenses have bad games because of defenses, not because a kid wakes up on the wrong side of the bed that day. OSU will lose
1. Will not be able to run up the middle against that LSU D-line, forcing beckman to throw against a 1st round pick in chevis jackson
2. LSU has the most talented recieving corps in the Nation, with Doucet as a 1st rounder, young athletes in Byrd, Tolliver, and Lafell.
3. The x-factor, Trindon Holliday. If he breaks lose, goodbye.

Defense won the title for Ohio State in 02, and it will again in 07. Don’t waste your keystrokes talking LSU offense. Flynn can’t hit Doucet with Vernon Gholston’s helmet burried in his chest.

LSU TIGERS did not lose a game in regular play this year. Both games were lost in tremendous overtime wars. LSU was plagued by key injuries at the time. Both of these wars could have ended in TIGER favor. But now the tiger is rested, healed, and very hungry for a big buck! The pressure in the dome will be enormous as the buck falls prey to the mighty TIGER, true king of “the jungle”. When I meditate on the result of this game, all I see is a frenzy of purple and gold. OSU has been grossly over rated.

Ragin-cajun: I admire your love for your team but your yellow and purple tinted glasses are having you see double. How can you say that UM had a down day against OSU, and Flordia had a down day against UM, but stating OSU had a down day against Flordia is an “excuse”? Which is it? You ever think about running for an office? Crazy double-talk. Also, believe me, OSU and UM are always prepared for their game against each other. Both programs base their seasons off that game. Furthermore, this game was in UM’s Big House and they still couldn’t win with 100,000 plus as the 12th man. Think what you want, the OSU defense is better than you think. As for Urban Meyer’s comment about 6 SEC teams being able to beat OSU last year, that was the most imature comment I have ever heard from a coach. How easy would it have been for Loyd Carr to have said the same thing about UF this year. But he didn’t and he won’t, because it is a stupid comment with no ability for validation. I am sure LSU thanks you for your devotion. Can’t wait for the game. Should be fun.

2007 college football was loaded with excitement and more than it’s share of upsets! LSU was in and out of the #1 spot twice and upset twice in triple overtime by very good SEC football teams. Louisiana’s Northeastern State University, of Monroe, a division 2 football team defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide! Number 1 LSU just did squeak by the tide! The last thing Nick wants to see is a bunch of crazy ragin cajuns across the field! Anything can happen! He’s been there and done that! It all boils down to who is truly ready and prepared on gameday. If the Lord shines on the underdog, he will be victorious! Whose morale will be blessed with fortitude? Whose army will formulate the shrewdest battle plan? David beat Goliath! Let’s settle back and watch this civilized war between two great college football teams. We are all brothers, only the colors are different. Just because a team wins doesn’t necessarily prove they are better. They just had a better game on a given day with prevailing circumstances. Realistically, I feel this one will go in favor of LSU, especially since it will occur in the Super Dome. But don’t underestimate the Buckeyes, it has been a crazy mf season!!!

I do not think you can base a team by the conference they are in. You cant say that LSU is going to win just because they are in the SEC. This is college football… anything can happen. We all saw that everything can happen this season. This game will be a great game. I dont think you can pick a winner based on their conference. It will come down to the wire and the team that plays the best for the entire game is going to win.

Mike, nice comments in block 33. Well put. You too Derek. I must admit that I have very much enjoyed this blog over some of the immaturity and slander I have read on the espn blogs on the same subject. Nice to be a part of a civilized good natured discussion. One thing I have noticed in my travels is that the whole state of Ohio is a College Football nuts state. I have also realized that the southern states have that same zeal for the game. Other states in the Northeast and West seem to often not have the same passion. I am glad OSU is having the opportunity to play the champions of the SEC regardless of the outcome. The states of the SEC do indeed love their teams as much as we love ours. Salute. Our should I say Saaaaalute. Sorry “Hee-Haw” was one of my favorite shows as a kid.

Life is too short and a bigger game awaits us all! Enjoy this game knowing that all of these players and coaches are doing their very best to please and entertain us, not to mention win! Nothing against Ohio State but LSU will win the only reason LSU is #2 is because of the time they lost. If it was two games eairler they would be #1. Last year florida beat them in this game.LSU beat flordia this year and Ohio State has shown no improvement. LSU will win:
48 to 21 final.
Ohio State has no chance.

I’m one of he biggest WAR EAGLE fans there is. Before one of you read any further, yes a agree that Auburn had a very bad season and yes there is need for improvent. However, for all of you who are in the PAK and the BIG TEN, the SEC is by far the most competetive, hardest hitting, fastest running conference there is in this nation. You don’t have take my word for it. Look at the majority sec teams and see where they are ranked before the bowl season, and then take a look at who the sec teams have to play. If not that listen to any of the commentators on a sports channel that is not biased and they agree about the SEC. All this hoop-la about OSU, USC, michgen, and a few others hardly ever play any other teams within their conference that is as good in all aspects as the opposing team. LSU is also a bit over rated. This only because they barely scrape by in all there key games. When they played Auburn, the game was so close and the tension was so high between the two that you could cut it with a butter knife, and LSU did not have any injuries at the time either. But, LSU is disputedly the No. 1 SEC team.
My score is LSU 23 OSU 19.
LSU has the capability of scoring more, but because of there running so closely to the other team’s efforts, but yet still prevailing, they will win.

Some advice to LSU fans, and I mean this sincerely. Get to Vegas. Bet your entire Mason jar full of tips from the Waffle House on Ohio State. Trust me on this. You’ll be able to pay off your trailer tomorrow, and the sting of the loss won’t seem so bad.
Though I do admire your ability to completely disregard the facts that will lead to your demise. Dorsey is hurt … it’s his knee AND his tailbone, and don’t believe otherwise. Flynn isn’t 100% and hasn’t thrown a pass in two months. Doucet is still hurting … you don’t come back from a groin within the season. And your coach is a certifiable whack job.
Ohio State’s defense has allowed one rushing touchdown all season. LSU gave up 5 in one game to the Nutt-less Hogs.
Get to Vegas. LSU is favored by 4. They won’t even score that many.

Nice comment buckeyehog. How do those words taste? That was a clinic on how to come from behind and dominate.

Before all of the trash talking begins… We can all agree that Ohio State came to play. Ohio State played a great game. This Ohio State team belonged in the championship game.
My Tivo was not broke. This was not like last years game. OSU did not get ran over. LSU was just better. I think the roughing the kicker call was blown out of proportion. I think LSU was in control of a lot of aspects of the game. It was not one play.
LSU composed themselves after being down 10 zip. They came back and won 38-24. They went on a 38-14 run.
OSU is young and we all need to watch out for them next year.
2007-2008 on the other hand belonged to LSU. Congrats Tigers!!!!!!

To BuckeyeHog,
Wow, go to Vegas bet our entire Mason jar on Ohio?!? You and your conference has a lot to learn about SEC Football. You need to leave the generic southern redneck stereotype comments to yourself and realize that if you actually took a second to see the talent and speed that LSU, and the SEC has then you wouldn’t write a check that your mouth can’t cash like you just did.

ethanator…yes but the penalties came in angrer..and the last touchdown drive shouldnt have even counted LSU had there whole second string in…OSU and the big-10 is just overated

Congrats to all the LSU fans. LSU has the best blocking TE’s in College Football and very underated corners. Those guys did an outstanding job in man coverage and the D-line did a good job of denying our QB from having throwing lanes in the middle. Our team shot itself in the foot over an over with penalties and LSU capitalized on every mistake. Saying we are over-rated is a little off. No one gave us a chance anyway, so we are what everyone thought we were. You don’t have to rub salt in us. We totally understand how bad we look and know how horrible this feels. Our credibility is shot and will be for some time. We can no longer say last year was a fluke. We have set an ugly standard for us and our conference. So whatever anyone says about the Big Ten and the Bucs, I just have to take. I have no colateral to argue from. Again, nice job LSU. I am really getting tired of the taste of that black bird.

ROOOOOOOOOOAAARRRRRRRR!!!
MIKE here. Congrats to my human tiger football team!
You PERFORMED for me! Now I’m ready for my nice make over with all of that bread the school is getting. My stripes have dulled a bit since the last championship. And I’ll have seven porterhouse t-bone steaks . . rare . . for an appetizer. You know . . THE FULL TREATMENT! ON THE DOUBLE!!! DON’T BE SLOW. And what did ya’ll think of my final prediction in block 35, LSU 31 OSU 24! I guessed OSU to the point in both of my predictions (Refer also to block 31, LSU 40 OSU 24) I should have stuck to my first gut prediction. It was only 2 points off total, giving LSU 40 rather than 38! I was close. My observation and instinct were pretty accurate. THE EYE OF THE TIGER! Also . . how many times have you seen a team come out blowing like a runaway train, get the first quick, blazing touchdown, then take an abrupt nose dive. All of the air and spirit gone!!! If you have been around as long as MIKE, you know exactly what I am talking about. I don’t know how this happens. I’ve heard theories about overconfidence, etc. etc. All I know is what I have repeatedly observed. I commented to those around me watching the game concerning this paradox. My respects to the Buckeyes for their whole hearted efforts and may you soon redeem yourselves. You deserve it! TIGER brothers, enjoy your days in the sun . . It’s been a long time coming! LOVE YOU ALL, including Buckeyes, Big 10, and all other conferences! We TIGERS love big pastures and BIG GAME! Also . . LOVE YOU USA . . and LOVE YOU LORD JESUS!!!

My wish for the Big Ten for the coming year. I wish that the Big Ten Conference leadership will get on the phone and beg borrow steal the SEC leadership into planning all our non-conference games to be against SEC Teams. I know the way schedules work that will probably be 5 years from now, but we need to forget all the PAC 10 and BIG 12 no-conf games and get you guys on our shedules. Yeah we will get our brains beat in for a few years, but we will learn. I think it is obvious that the Big Ten needs to rethink football. Don’t get me wrong. I love my conference, but I love T-Rex’s too and look where they are.

It was a great game by LSU. Big Ten has lost it’s credibility for a long time to come. SEC rules for now. I’m not sure they would have if a playoff system were in place. Could have been Southern Cal hoisting that trophy or even West Virginia. Too many good teams had a claim to the national Championship this year. Need a playoff.
