Did LSU deserve the 2008 BCS Championship? Yes! Yes! Yes! Of course they did. LSU won the best conference and beat the #1 team in the land, in the BCS National Championship game. They beat OSU very convincingly. There was no doubt who the better team was. It is pointless for anyone to argue that they did not deserve the BCS National Championship.

On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that there were several teams that ended the season on very high notes. We have no idea who would have won it in a playoff. I personally think that Georgia would have given LSU the biggest fight. Georgia was playing the best football in the country ever since their Tennessee loss. USC, Missouri, and Kansas would all like to have a few words as well.

The fact that these other schools have an argument, does not tarnish the Sears Trophy that LSU has. If anything, it yells to the NCAA athletic directors and presidents to start a playoff. It is not LSU’s fault that there is not a playoff. They did all they could do. They won the SEC and then beat the #1 team in the nation. End of story.
