Alabama vs Clemson, Prediction, Preview

Alabama vs Clemson, Prediction, Preview. Now we are getting down to business. Can the SEC put up, or will they be shut up against top notch out of conference scheduling. This is the biggest game of the week, and Bama would not have it any other way.
I am going to go ahead and tell you that I am on upset alert code red. Clemson needs to watch out. Alabama is well coached and they have a ton of talent. Alabama is the dark horse of the SEC West and maybe the SEC.
This is pretty much the same team that Auburn waxed with a brand new offense in the Chik-fil-a Bowl last year. I know that people have them picked Clemson to win the ACC, but this is not the ACC. This is Alabama.
Now am I giving it to Alabama? No! I think Alabama needs to bring their A+ game.
I am also saying that this game will tell volumes about Alabama’s season. Will John Parker get his head on straight? Has a season and a half of coach Saban rubbed off on these kids? Will Alabama get a solid running attack that they can count on to make Wilson get better? Can Alabama put all of the off-season problems behind them? This first game will answer a lot of those questions, and will set the tone for the season.
As for Clemson, Tommy Bowden and company need to pack a lunch. Preseason polls do not mean a thing. It is as simple as that. The ACC is weak and people think they will go undefeated. That is why they have the great ranking, but everyone knows this is their biggest threat. They have talent. They have a lot of guys that could have went to the SEC. I am sure that they are all tired of the SEC especially their friends at South Carolina. What makes the SEC so good?
My answer is… I do not know what makes the SEC better, but it just is. Clemson struggles to win in the ACC. That is why they do not get their respect. Tommy Bowden chokes in the big games.
My prediction is that Alabama will win. I do not believe the preseason hype. I think Alabama has a long road ahead of them, but I think they can put together a game plan to stop Clemson. I think there is a book out on Tommy Bowden. Clemson will do good under him, but never go all the way.

I am a big Tide fan. I stand behind them 100%, but I know for a fact that Clemson is the better team in this match up. don’t think we can contain Davis and Spiller. I personally think that we will get beat by more than 13 points. I also think that the Tide will go on to have a 8-4 season. As for Clemson, I think they are a powerhouse and will win big against the Tide. I hate to predict this but I’m being honest.

It’s good to hear a logical statement about this game. We are finally loaded all over the field and if tommy can’t get this team to the next level this year i wouldnt want him to coach my old high school. We do have speed all over the field. Our defence was one of the best in the country last year and we return 8 starters. davis, spiller, harper, kelly, ford, and freshman jamie harper have the ability to bust it big everytime they touch the ball. I just hope we dont let the preseason ranking go to our heads. i’ll be in the ga. dome on sat. and hope we handle our business. go tigers

I just do not buy the hype guys. I think that Bama has a real good shot. This is the same team that lost to Auburn, when Auburn had to learn a new offense.
Thank you both for the comments.
This will be a great game. No Doubt!

Davis and Spiller? Does no one remember McFadden and Jones. Yeah they gave us a run for our money but we were still able to put them down. Clemson has a young offensive line and going against Bama’s defense will not be alot of fun for those freshman. Bama may not have as good a defense as Clemson but the defense is better than Clemson’s offense and who know’s about Bama’s offense, that is a toss up. This game will definately be back and forth. Im guessing special teams is going to win this one.

I hope we are able to stay in the game. It looks like Clemson could really be more than anyone can handle this year. Checking the roster, the Tide may be able to keep Clemson to only 3 or 4 TD’s. I just hope we can get on the scoreboard. GO TIDE!!!!

I agree with you on this one. I really believe Bama can win this game, but I know Clemson looks better on paper. Bama can play some really talented teams close. I guess we will find at Saturday. I will be at the Dome hoping the Tide can pull it out.

Good points paratrooper.
Everyone else thanks for the comments. Come back soon. I will put up my predictions, for the top games of the week, every week. Also check out the SEC Football Video Collection.
As for Ryan
You are not the first person to tell me that, but I think you will eat your words this Saturday.

With the tradition and No. 1 recruiting class, it’s hard to say what Bama will be like until first kickoff. Furthermore, the big “X-factor” is Saban. He has the skills to coach the team to an SEC championship and bring in talent; the question is “When”…how long will it take before it happens. They may be ready this year. Again, we wont know until the season is under way. ROLL TIDE!

Auburn “waxed” Clemson in the Peach Bowl??? Since when is 23-20 in OT being waxed? Didn’t Auburn beat Bama 17-10 just a few weeks before that???
This will be a good game and a huge test for Clemson, maybe the biggest of the year. Clemson has some questions on the O-Line, which is where the offense starts. Clemson’s defense is poised to be one of the top ranked in the nation again this year. I agree that Alabama has an advantage with coaching. Other than that, Clemson should control the game.
Clemson 27
Bama 17
Go Tigers!

I think all alabama fans need to wake up. Ya’ll went 6-6 last year and played a s****y colorado team in the INDEPENDENCE bowl. i dont even know where that is played. ya’ll lost to La-monroe. How you think you will be good with true freshman who have never seen speed anything like they will see across from them tomorrow night. We had a top 10 defence last year and return 8 starters on that side of the ball. i think we will hold yall under 150 yards of total offence tomorrow night. we have the best secondary in the nation. john parker-joke will be on his back a lot.
By tigerfan on Aug 29, 2008 | Reply
ooo yea. we have threats all over the field on the other side of the football. and do you want to kick it to the two sub 4.2 40 guys that return kicks for us (jacoby ford and cj spiller). kelly at WR had over a 1000 last year as did davis at RB and he splits carries. you might want to think about those things before you post anymore dumb comments up.

It looks like all these are Bama fans.. Clemson is going to kill Bama. If Bama can stop the run they have a chance. Bama has the same team that lost to that High School skilled team.. Come on. Clemson is going to run all over the. As for Saban, please… He doesn’t play on the field!! Much like Pete Carroll and all the other good coaches.. Who cares! They don’t play. They are mere spectators like us just standing on the field.. This will be a massacre.. Go Tigers

It looks like the Tigers fans think that they got this one in the bag. I guess all that speed is going to dominate Alabama…….. We will see.
And Matty, there is a reason USC came back to a national powerhouse, and Pete Carrol is it. The Coach does not play, but without the coach, the players do not play.

wilson on his back huh?? Didn’t harper see most of his playing time last year in that position??? look tigerfan, when ya’ll start putting harder teams in your schedule, I believe you will have an opinion in college football. We did beat arkansas last year and I recall they beat the national champions. You never know. No doubt clemson has a better team but you having a cocky personality casts a negative outlook on clemson fans, you sir just kill it for other fans. When and if they beat bama i think that is when you start the #### talking. All i really have left is, you better beat US , B/C you are going to be a laughing stock along with your team sunday. Letting a untalented qb and a overloaded freshman team beat ya’ll. That will make it ooo so much sweeter…

well kick off is here in 2 hours. I’m thinking the game can really go either way. I think it’s safe to say clemson should no doubt win this game. I think they no doubt can win this game. The only not so good thing about this team is the offensive line. Most people don’t realize this line has quite a bit of combined experience. Pluss the fact that clemson has a reputation of losing games they should have. I think Clemson will pull this one out 27-21. I’m a clemson fanactic but don’t get me wrong, Alabama certainly has a chance. Julio whatever his name is has talent no doubt. I do think that Clemson will get to the QB 3 or 4 times though. But this is just my opinion

ALL I CAN SAY TIGERFAN IS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! 9 RUSHING YARDS?? HOW ARE THEY GOING TO WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH THOSE NUMBERS???

Auburn fan here but man was I impressed with Bama last night. I like it when any SEC team wins. May be a close Iron Bowl this year…
By rolltide111 on Sep 1, 2008 | Reply
It’s a close Iron Bowl every year, and the victory has been yours for the last six, but I do see a changing tide. As for the bama clemson game, I live in sc and I have had to hear all this s*** talk from tiger fans about how they were going to walk the dog on bama and I just kept my mouth shut , well who walked who’s dog. Roll Tide Babby!!

Well so much for holding Alabama under 150 yards total offense… And what happened the Thunder and Lightning? 20 yards rushing between the two but tackles behind line of scrimmage bring it down to 0? What happened to that predicted massacre?

i would hate to bet on your predictions!

Im glad Bama got the win. After Auburn beat Clemson last year with a new O in the peach bowl they didnt look all that strong to me. They also had a brand new O line, and about the same on the D line as well.
BAma won the push off the ball all night long, and it was simple for them to control the pace of the game all night. I applaud the game plan used by Bama the power game was just what was called for, and they were well prepared.
I still feel though there is a ton of football to be played though, and as the old sayings go you boys better not count your chickens before the eggs hatch. Enjoy this win for your program but dont read too much into it. Clemson is in the ACC. Remember you still have Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tenn, Miss State, and Auburn to play before you can claim your back. Until you can defeat those demons your still just half way home at best.
Keep your joy in your hearts for now, and dont be boasting about things too much. Let those chickens hatch before you count em, and you will feel better come the end of the season, and your fan base will be better respected for it. Nobody likes a blow hard who talks out of turn

Auburn man in Iraq, I am a retired Marine saying thank you for what you’re doing right now. I mean THANK YOU. The Tide looked great, no doubt. I always pull for Auburn - except for one time each year. Roll Tide!!! Keep your head down and come home safe.
