Alabama vs Georgia, Prediction, 2008
September 23rd, 2008 | by Ethanator1088 |
Alabama vs Georgia, Prediction, 2008. This is going to be one of those SEC games that everyone will talk about for a long time. I just have the feeling.
Georgia is going to be ready for Alabama. They are not looking over Nick Saban’s crew at all. Word is that Coach Richt is going to pull out the all black uniforms. Some people think that Richt is over hyping the game, and he should act like he will be the National Champion.
Nick Saban lives for these games. We all know that is why he was hired. He is supposed to rebuild that program. He is supposed to win all the games he is supposed to win, and he is expected to win some ( if not all ) of the games that Alabama is not supposed to win. I think
the problem for Alabama is that their ranking is inflated. Everyone respects Saban and Alabama evokes memories of college football lore, but they have not done much this season.
- Clemson is a joke from the ACC.
- Alabama looked real bad against Tulane.
- Arkansas is, in my eyes, the worst team in the SEC.
Georgia on, the other hand, is getting no respect. They are stacked from top to bottom. They are a proven program. They have Knowshon Moreno, and Stafford. They will have the black unis on.
I pick Georgia to win and make a statement. Please leave a comment to tell me what you think. Also check out my Georgia football videos, and Alabama football videos.

Ha….
Well Clemson isnt bad…some of the top recruits in the nation…
tulane was a down point for bama…
But Georgia hasnt flexed any muscles ive seen either…thats why USC is still #1….They are waiting for Georgia to flex their muscles…USC did it agianst Ohio State.
Georgia has a chance to be number 1 if they beat Bama….
But come on …its the SEC …Nothing is given…As we can tell agianst SouthCarolina…..Georgia needs to make a statement….But if Bama wins….ill be happy….cause im a tide fan…but if Georgia wins… im behind them to beat Florida or LSU …if Bama Loses …i hope Georgia is a national champion.

Thanks for the comment. As for Georgia
After returning the great players from last years awesome team, I do not think they should have to flex muscle to get respect. They are a proven program.

haha last year dont mean anything. shut ur mouth until ur “bulldogs” actually win. The polls are strictly based off of THIS season…not last year. Georgia has not done anything to make themselves look convincing, maybe a threat, but convincing…no.

Georgia doesn’t have to flex muscle? You do realize how the BCS works. If it was based on proven teams and proven players why even play the games? That was a dumb statement. I’m glad you were quick to point out who Bama has played but with your tail between your legs seemed to have over looked Georgia’s non lack luster season as well. Again Obviouse that you are a Georgia fan. Way to pick your team.

As a lifetime Tide fan living in a home full of Bulldog fans I sure hope they when. Both children have been corrupted by the cousins and in laws. I would almost rather loose to Auburn.
I think it will be a battle. Alabama matches up nicely against the dogs. I look for a close game but would not be surprised to see a Georgia blowout. If Bama can control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball it could be a long day for Georgia. If John Parker has a bad day throwing the ball it will not matter how much time he gets. We have all seen just how good and how bad he can be.
Roll Tide but if Georgia wins, Go Dogs all the way to the national championship.
Oh GA is number 3 because the press drools over USC, Oklahoma is just good. On that note watch out if Notre Dame wins another game they may go to 3.

Just wanted to say thank for all the comments.
Derek - If you think that the same team that went on that roll at the end of last season needs to flex more muscle, you must be a crimson colored glasses wearing, card carrying, Bama fan. It is pretty much the same team Derek.
Georgia is great. I am not a Georgia fan, but thanks for stopping by.

First, Roll Tide Roll, just so that is clear. Georgia pulling out the black tells me they are ready, and in that I mean they have respect for Bama, so much they think they have to make a statement, I mean come on, it’s just Alabama, a bunch of mostly “freshmeat”. What are they worried about? They are number 3, for Heaven’s sake(for some reason, I am still not sure of) But lets be real, Bama has had a hard time in the last few years handling the dawgs. I think we are in for a great night of SEC football. And Georgia is my third favorite team, so I can handle it, and if they do beat Bama, please Lord please, let them run over some Florida gators again!
By derek on Sep 24, 2008 | Reply
You keep saying its the same team. WHO CARES. You have to play THIS seasons teams. Some are better than they have been. And yeah I am a bama fan, and I also never said we’d win. I’m just pointing out your one sided afair. And maybe if you had a time machine and could go back to the end of last season your statements would be fine. If it weren’t for Moreno Georgia would be back there with the Ohio State one man shows.

Great prediction!I’m a dawg fan.I hope we don’t need an overtime this time around!I agree with you on the respect deal.I think Georgia should be #1 or #2.Go Dawgs all the way!!

Lets look at it this way. As an Alabama fan I want to think they are back but realistically I know we are a year or two away. We are going to see a show Saturday, for the sake of the SEC lets hope it is a good show. I don’t want to see a blow out I want to see a game that comes down to the last play. Like I try to tell my stupid father in law Go SEC screw everyone else. The SEC is the toughest, strongest, fastest, most bad ass conference there is. USC bring it on come play our schedule.
By Ethanator1088 on Sep 24, 2008 | Reply
I agree with you Derek, but the team is the same. That team won the Sugar Bowl. They are just older and better.
They are not tested this year, only because of the schedule.
Alabama is a good team, but they have not proven they could beat Georgia. If they do, I will be the first to talk about how bad the whooped em

I think it’s going to be a good game. Probably a close game. I hope Bama wins, but if we cant I hope Georgia goes all the way!!

If its the “same” Georgia team coming back to face the “same” Alabama team this year, then its going to be close. If I remember correctly, Georgia won last year, but by a field goal, in OT. This is going to be a close game, and “magical” black jerseys or not, Bama isnt going to let Georgia beat them 2 years in a row. Ill pick Bama by 6 points, blackout home field advantage and all.

This will be one heck of a great game. Ga. is a proven winner but Bama has got a HUGE chip on their collective shoulders. This will be a close game. The fact that Ga. is pulling out the black uniforms tells me that they are worried about The Tide. It is all about intimidation. I think that this game will be decided in the last couple of plays and I think that the Bulldogs will see an upset. Bama is for real and want to prove themselves. I can’t think of a better way than to knock Ga. outta the top 10. All I can say is “let’s get ready for a real slobber-knocker!” God, I love SEC football!!! It doesn’t get any better than this. Ohio St. and USC are nothing compaired to the teams in the SEC. Let the games begin!!!
Roll Tide Roll!!!

O.K. let’s get real here. Georgia’s Oh-So-Tough Schedule has been getting weaker each week that passes. UGA hasn’t even played a ranked team and they have already had a big scare from South Carolina (You know, we got our wigs peeled back by Vandy & won 23-13 over Wofford? - THAT South Carolina)… Arizona St. lost to UNLV guys! That’s U-N-L-V (Just to be clear)… Don’t get me wrong, UGA is a very talented team with the POTENTIAL to be a great team. But they aren’t great yet. And when they line up against ALABAMA this Saturday, they will be lining up against the best team (by light years) that they have faced this season. BAMA has faced (and dominated)one extremely talented team already this year in the Georgia Dome. And all this garbage about Clemson not being very good is just that - garbage. Clemson will be a wildly successful team in the ACC this year. Offensively Clemson is just as talented, if not more talented than Georgia. Of course, I give UGA the nod over Clemson on defense. UGA has not seen an O-Line, stable of RB’s, or of course a DEFENSE like ours. Alabama will wear them down physically and win a close one in Athens.
BAMA- 24 UGA- 20
Oh, wait! I forgot, it’s…it’s…ATTACK OF THE SCARY SHIRTS! Forgive me, I did not factor in the “blackout”. O.K. so my new and improved with UGA players and fans wearing all those big, scary, black shirts……
BAMA- 24 UGA- 21 (I’ll toss in a point)

uhmm.. georgia has the second longest win streak in the nation after BYU. they spanked tebow and the gators last year. we beat the second best team behind USC in the pac10 last year. ohh yea. and we beat BAMA last year too. knowshon and stafford and AJgreen will not be contained. and seeing how BAMA starts like 15 freshmen. they are overated. and not going to come into athens and beat the best team in the nation. GO DAWGSSS!
By 4real on Sep 24, 2008 | Reply
Knowshon has like 9tds already and javon ringer probably only has more. Mathew stafford has yet to throw an interception. Caleb king and Aj Green add excitement to the most balanced team in the nation. BAMA has John Parker Wilson… woww!.. he sucks. Just look at his stats. BAMA starts way to many freshman. The blackout doesnt matter.. coachRicht just uses different ways to get his team going. Thats just the smart thing to do. BAMA only beat an overated Clemson team. The tigers have 2 good runnin backs and thats it. The qb Cullen Harper even sucks his senior year. Georgia has proven itself over and over in there 11 game win streak and people still dont respect them. BAMA does have players on there team that is talented but in the end georgias experience will overtake BAMAS lack in experience with all those freshmen.
GEORGIA wins by double digits.

Georgia is a good team, but you can’t say they are gonna win based on what they did last year. And as far as Bama not playing anybody, uhh… Georgia hasn’t played anybody that will beat Clemson… Oh and as far as this being the same Georgia team… do you not remember that they only beat Bama by 3 points last year… so the same Georgia team will lose to a much improved bama team…

As for Bama almost beating them.
After that game, Georgia did lose to Tennessee and they looked bad against Vandy. Then they went on one of the best winning streaks that I have ever seen. They are still in the winning streak.
Also, as for this team not being like last years.
This Georgia team is just one year older and better. Alabama is starting a ton of Freshmen. The only team that got worse was Bama.

Let us review the facts here. Both teams have scored an average of around 35 points per game while giving up only 9 (UA) and 13 (GA). Both QBs have thrown for 5 TDs. Both teams have had low points and needless mistakes, and both have shown moments of great football competition. Regardless of the past, the present (strength of schedule arguments included) shows that these teams are very evenly matched. Whichever team can establish the run first has the best chance of being successful in the game. The game will hopefully be an exciting one where both teams play to their abilities and make the SEC look good. Bama wins by 3.

im with eric….**** all the neysayers.bama is coming to play.they may have a young team, but they have veterans in both off. and def. line.SEC games are won in the trenches.uga has knowshon, undoubtedly a great talent.Bama has a lot more depth in the running back position.coffee, ingram, upchurch, and grant.there’s always a fresh set of feet.bama also has great special teams.no matter who comes out on top,it’ll be a battle.and very possibly bama could win this game.anything goes in the SEC.South car. nearly pulled it out against UGA and i believe bama has better discipline than last year. They will not make mental errors..and JP Wilson’s improvement and confidence is showing. He can handle the UGA defense…no doubt in my mind ROLL TIDE!!!!

Guys, this game is going to be a great game don’t get me wrong. But,I will say the pressure lies on the backs of the dawgs to win. Bama has been the dog since day 1 and has not even been given the chance to win until recently. The “Blackout” is merely Richt trying to intimidate the Bama team, and get his fans into the game. I am noy sure it will work. Saban lives for these games and be certain he will have his team ready to compete.

The ELEPHANTS will make Dog food outta uga.
The Alabama offensive line averages 307lbs. They are gonna wear the georgia Defense down. Ill bet coffee, ingram, upchurch, and grant will have 200+ yards against the GB. It doesn’t matter how well, or how bad an SEC team played the week before. Each week is different; especially in the SEC. This will be one of the most hyped and enjoyable games of the 2008-2009 season. Hope all you dirty dawgs enjoy the beat down.

I have to start by saying I’m a Bama fan. Thing is, I’m not sure if Alabama really HAS been tested this season. Arkansas is just not good this year, Clemson was the opener, and I believe they were over ranked. Tulane, however, has shown other teams a hard time, including the former Cinderella ECU. The Bulldogs have been underestimated for the past couple of years. The loss to Tenn last season simply proves one thing, you never really know what will happen in this conference. For that reason, I have to agree that it will be an interesting game to watch. I’ll be pulling for the Tide, but if UGA wins it outright, I’d want them to go all the way. Richt is a great coach and deserves respect. Saban is great as well, and respect is given to him because of his history. Alabama is headed back to some good times, but we should keep in mind how we started last season, and how we finished. Roll Tide anyway!
By Robert on Sep 26, 2008 | Reply
I believe that this will be a very good game. Alabama has already beaten Clemson (yes they are in the ACC, but have won all the rest of their games) and they smoked Arkansas. Even if Arkansas is at the bottom of the SEC, they are still an SEC team and that was a nice win for BAMA. This will be the last time there is blackout in Athens after Bama puts a beating on the dawgs! Bama 31-13

Well, this is one of those games that is really hard to predict. Alabama on one hand has big inflated numbers - which is really awesome! - but didnt really have more then like one sustained drive against Arkansas - their first SEC opponent - which kinda scares me. Their defense is really good though with the bend but dont break, and the creating turnovers, but i would like to see some harder hitting by the D. Georgia on the other hand i think is suffering from the, everybody is telling them how good they are, sickness. We really havent seen them play at their potential and gel this season, which is scary. That they can play mediocre football and still win against some pretty good opponents in South Carolina, and Arizona State, and now Mark is bringing out the black uniforms, this might be the game where the beast is awakened. With me being a Tide fan i hope not, but if Georgia gives us the best chance to bring another NC to the SEC then for the greater good maybe the dawgs should win. But if thats the case we both better beat the living h*** out of tennessee! lets get phillip fulmer fired haha. Dawgs 23 - 16

i would like to think that this game is going to be replayed in the SEC championship, if not, either way it goes, it will be a close, evenly matched game, way too close to call…
i do think that the black out idea is really cool and a great tool to get the team fired up, and will obviously be an intimidation factor especially with so many true freshmen… however, i dont think that it will effect the outcome of the game except to make both teams play that much harder
moreno is not alabama’s biggest threat! i think the alabama defense will shut his game down… the real threat is aj green, he is a superstar sure to stun some folks in his career so hopefully he can be contained
its ganna be a close game but i gotta say

I think Georgia is good but over rated just as the Falcons are. The first descent team that either of them played against, they both struggled. I think Alabama will win big and no matter how much the Georgia media try’s to glorify them it will not help them on the field. Alabama shut down two of the best backs in college football against Clemson which leads me to believe that Marino will be limited to maybe 50yds on the ground. Oh yeah the jumping in the air thing has been done many times before on all levels. Even his runs are over rated- now don’t get me wrong the kid is good but let him prove it!!! The only problem Alabama may have is fueling up the bus after the game to return home.

5 Questions with Kenny:
Are you going to wear black on Saturday? (”Yes”)
Why? (”Get amped dude!”)
Exactly how much “amperage” would you say is created by a college football team and it’s fans all simultaneously wearing black on gameday? (”I dunno… it’s a lot though!”)
Do you think the UGA Nation will be “blacking out” when UGA plays Vandy this year? (”No”)
That’s interesting, considering your comment that Vandy has a better team than Alabama. Why would Georgia use the blackout ploy and waste all that precious amperage on the Crimson Tide tonight in Athens?
(I don’t feel too well - is that all?)
Just one more thing. If you’re scared, SAY scared…
(”Scared”)
Thanks Kenny!

Interesting comments and “predictions”…Those who share a lopsided victory either way are letting their selective memories and egos get the better part of them…It will go down to thee wire…two of the best (if not the best) SEC teams in the conference…The question will be 1. Who has the ball last; 2. How much time is left on the clock; and 3. Can that team get the plays, calls, etc. to get the winning score…

Yea Georgia really was prepared for this one, 31-0 at halftime. I believe you meant Georgia is the team that was inflated, care to reiterate that comment? The only negative statement I have to make about Alabama in this match up is that Bama did allow Georgia the slightest chance for a fleeting moment or two in the last quarter, now lets see if the tide can play consistent football. Just take every game seriously, one game at a time Bama, and I believe you can have a 10-2 season or even a 11-1 season. If Bama can get past LSU and Auburn look out. Great game Bama !!!

well, speaking from a dad that has a son who does powerline work all over the country, it takes hundreds of dedicated techs to restore power to hurricane and tornado victims who have total blackouts. it takes weeks to get power restored. I am proud of Nick Saban. He took a hand full of staff and a group of dedicated players and within a 60 minute game did away with a huge blackout that covered most of Georgia (and a huge stadium). Thank you Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide, I hope Georgia Appreciates “the Alabama Power”.

I’m from Athens, Ga. The Bulldogs do not have the team that played here in the 80’s under Vince Dooley. This year they have to forget all the hype about National Champions and get on with the job of playing good football. Even though they just got by S.C.,the other two teams they beat this season was not in their league, just warm up games. Forget about the Dart Vader look and get back to Red & Black, our colors. I think Mark Rich is a good coach and hes got to get back to basics if he wants a winning season.

…..well you’re an idiot for not looking at the content of all alabama has done. we completely dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball….we control the time with almost 3/4 of the games we’ve played…..we’ve never been losing in a game and for 280 of the 300 minutes of football we’ve played we’ve been winning and we have outscored our opponents 74-0 in the first quarter….we average 240 yards rushing…AND we have the best rush defense…IN THE NATION, alabama has definitely proven itself and it wasn’t a suprise if you looked at the stats.
