Auburn vs Tennessee, Prediction, 2008. I am not going to beat around the bush. I pick Auburn to lose if they do not put Kodi Burns in some. If Kodi Burns does not play, Auburn will lose this game. There is no doubt in my mind. They look sloppy. They look BAD. This offense looks like a bad high-school offense.
You might ask yourself, what the missing piece is. Well, the missing piece is that there is not a threat of the run. The spread offense needs a QB with a running threat. Think of the good spread offenses.
- Florida has Tebow and the threat of the run
- West Virginia has Pat White and the threat of the run.
- Kentucky had Andre Woodson and the threat of the run.
- Urban Meyer at Utah had Alex Smith running in that spread as well.
What does Auburn have. They have Kodi Burns on the sidelines. I wish I had the Youtube of Chris Todd getting sacked last week. He got the ball and a defender was about 7 feet from him. Chris Todd tried to do a “juke”. His “juke” consisted of his head moving side to side.
It did not work and he was tackled for a loss on the play.
Tennessee will be ready. You may not like him, but Phillip Fulmer gets those boys ready to play. He gets in their face. I thought they were done last year and then they won the SEC East. They know exactly what to expect if Chris Todd is the only QB that comes in the game. Auburn threw everything but the kitchen sink at LSU. The Vols are going to look at game film and they will pick out 20 more bad tendencies that Chris Todd has.
I picked Auburn to win the SEC West. I know they are great team, but they can not run at all, if they have a QB that can not run the ball. That is as simple as it gets. The spread offense needs a running QB. It might work in high-school without a running QB but this is the SEC. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.
