Tony Franklin is Fired!

Tony Franklin is Fired! SEC Football Blogger called for it Saturday night” Fire Tony Franklin” and now it has happened. I am sure Tony Franklin is a very nice guy, but he had no business coaching an elite D1 College football team in the SEC.
I hope he makes lots of money selling his “offensive system”. I do not think he will. I am very interested in finding out what Tommy Tuberville will do now. He said he will stay more involved. I hope he brings in a proven D1 OC, but Tubberville is , like McCain, a Maverick :-). I predict Auburn will line up in the I the rest of the season and do a lot better.

I can not see how Franklin’s firing is going to be a good thing for the rest of the season. The spread offense is a good offense and is one that Auburn will need to run to stay competitive on the field and in the recruitment battle for skill players. This means that 10 months of work is going down the drain. 3 days of preparation to put in some new offensive scheme does not bode well for this weekend or the remainder of the season. Could this be a result of resistance by some on the staff to Franklin’s presence. The newspaper just this morning was talking about what a great practice the team had yesterday and how the players thought it was a good thing. Sounds to me like this firing is a result to animosity among the coaches. The only thing that tops this is Terry B. quitting in the middle of the season.

Auburn has been pitiful this year. They will not beat Alabama. Nick Saban is doing a ridiculous job already. Auburn will lose a ton of recruits because of this stupid move to all of a sudden fire Tony Franklin. This just makes the program look that much more unstable.

in response to soup. - Auburn’s 2004 undefeated season had nothing to do with the spread. It had the most first rounders in the history of college football. That was 4 years ago, and it did not involve the spread. It had to do with solid running, and great defense. Jason Campbell was also percise and did not turn the ball over.
in response to buckeye fans - I think yall will be looking for another head coach if he loses the next 2 national championship games.
