Nick Saban has the Tide playing well, but he also has done something that I previously thought was hard to do. He has led every Alabama fan, I know, to a special place where they think that all of their close wins were deserved, and they are the best team in the nation, or maybe Oklahoma and Florida would give them a good game.
Some people out of this state might think that is silly, but it is true. Alabama fans are talking serious trash. They have stepped into a time warp and they are back on the top of college football world circa 1979. I am an Auburn fan in Alabama, and every Bama fan I come in contact with is 100% convinced that their defense can not be ran against. They are watching the BCS polls like they will actually be in the National Championship game.
While I was eating Turkey at my Father-In-Law’s house, the whole family was watching Alabama reruns on HD TV. Now, I know the Pro Football was not the best yesterday, but Alabama reruns? Come on!
Here is a reality check. Alabama is very lucky to be undefeated. They are very young. My pick is that they will lose against Auburn, who has great talent. Auburn also has a coach that has a history of handing it to the Tide and rising up in games that his job is on the line for. There is a zero percent chance that Bama will beat Florida. If they lose to Florida and Auburn, it is bye bye BCS and hello Outback Bowl.
Also, when they do lose to Auburn please do not call this the 2008 La Monroe game. That game last year was a fluke, but Bama will lose this game because Auburn will be ready for them and Tubby has their number. The Tides luck has ran out. On top of all of that, the trash they have been talking is going to make the 7th Iron Bowl in a row, that much sweeter.
I am sorry, I had to write this. I try to keep my allegiance to the Tigers off of the blogs page, but this National Title talk radiating from T Town is ridiculous. The Trash that has been barked is unwarranted. Alabama is a top 10 team, and not #1 at all.

Even if Bama somehow “slips” against Auburn (which I seriously doubt), we have accomplished so much more than anyone expected. Yes, we paid dearly for Coach Nick Saban and he has been worth every penney. So, you Tigers enjoy your trash talk. You’ve made up at least half of what you accuse Bama fans of saying. Let’s play the game on the field–not with talk.

I was just reacting to the talk I heard and give my opinion. I think this will be the best Iron Bowl in recent memory.
Both teams will show all they have tomorrow. This will be awesome.

I seriously laughed out loud when reading this post. I’m a student at the University of Alabama, and your stereotype of Bama fans is more pathetic than it is hilarious. Do you think that we just all bobble around campus up here in Tuscaloosa with the thought that our team has not lucked out this season? I’m a huge Bama fan, and even I know we’ve played some really bad ball this season. Those last few drives of the LSU game? Unacceptable. The scoreless second half vs. Ole Miss? Embarrassing.
Alabama is not the best team in the nation. That would be Florida. If the Gators keep playing at the rate that they’re playing, they’re the 2008 National Championships already. But you think that Bama fans don’t know this? We’re not all idiots, you know. However, we are proud of our team and our players, and you might deny it, but we are very proud of Saban and everything he’s doing for this University’s athletic standards.
Just shut up with the stereotypes. They’re completely idiotic. Since when did all Bama fans talk trash and all Auburn fans not? Even if we lose tomorrow and the next week at Florida (likely), what does it prove? Does it prove that Auburn is the better team? Ha… Auburn fans have no room to talk after this season’s losses. Losing to West Virginia? Come on! Even if Auburn beats Alabama tomorrow, which is the better team? Florida lost to Ole Miss, but which is still the better team? It doesn’t take a second guess.
So please, though I know you won’t, please stop stereotyping Bama fans. We’re not all “gumps.”
Plus, Alabama is SUCH a young team right now. Look what Saban has done with just one off-season. Tuberville has had years and years to perfect his team, and look what they’ve become. Though Alabama is a decent team this year, they will only become stronger as long as Saban remains as our head coach. You better get used to being dominated by Alabama and Ole Miss over the next few years, and Florida if you end up playing them too. Auburn is going to have to hit rock-bottom before Auburn’s program starts to reach the top again.
But don’t worry. There will be a day in the future when Auburn will dominate and Alabama will have its down-years. It goes in cycles. Look at LSU last year as opposed to this year. Natural cycles.

Thanks for the comments, but I was not stereotyping. I live in Alabama and they are talking trash. I am glad that you admit that the games have been ugly. A lot of Bama fans are blinded by the thought of winning number 13.
I also agree that Auburn is in deep trouble, because Bama is on the rise and they are on the way down. I believe that there needs to be serious changes on the plains, but I think they have enough to make it lucky #7.
Also the Ole Miss – Auburn comparison is good, but Ole Miss woke up Tebow and the Gators. FLA has been awesome since that game. I think that Auburn is going to wake up the Tide.

Bubba, I hear what you are saying, but this post was not the prediction. My prediction is based on me thinking that Auburn is on the upswing and Bama is ranked too highly.

That was a nice game. That first half was mediocre, but we picked up on the second half. We need to get JP Wilson out of there for the Florida game. Start number 12! He threw a much better passing game than Wilson!
We are going to have to play a good passing game is we are even considering beating Florida. Their defense is incredibly tough.
