Florida vs Charleston Southern, 2009 Prediction Preview. With the preseason starting in four days, colleges across the country are getting excited to see their teams play for the first time. Unfortunately, not all of them will be satisfied once the final play is over; some will lose and defeat for some is more assured than it is for others. This brings me to this Saturday’s game between the Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the Florida Gators.

Having only really paid attention to SEC football I took the time to look up any stats I could find for the Buccaneers and what I found does not look good for them. Comparing the stats on both teams listed on usatoday.com, the Buccaneers’ were all lower than the Gators’ with the Buccaneers’ total completed passes being 203 while the Gators’ total was 299. The total number of passes that resulted in touchdowns for the Buccaneers counts up to 26 with the Gators at 31.

As for scoring, the Gators’ points per quarter are all nearly double or triple that of the Buccaneers and comparing the rest of the stats I found are equally dismal for the Big South opponents. A brief skim through sites such as The Wiz of Odds shows that most people agree that the Gators are going to crush them with a score of at least 65. I was somewhat worried that I wouldn’t be able to catch the game before work in the afternoon, but if the game shapes up anything like it is looking to, I can probably leave early for work (I’ll probably have to if I’m going to get through the UT strip and get there on time!) and not have to worry about the end result. That being said, I’m very excited about seeing the Gators play again! Go Gators!
