Georgia vs Tennessee, Prediction, 2008

October 8th, 2008

Tennessee VolsGeorgia vs Tennessee, Prediction, 2008. This is almost always an exciting game. This is one of the most heated rivalries in all of college football. The coaches and players really do hate each other. It is that good natured sports hate. :-)

Tennessee is going to a two QB system, and that just does not sound good for the Vol fans. They lost to Auburn. I am using Auburn as my barometer so far this year. Auburn looks real bad. We all know that they are playing stupid football. Those are facts. That is why they are my scales of justice. Tennessee lost to Auburn. That does not look good for Vol fans.

Georgia Bulldog forumsGeorgia is coming off an embarrassing loss to Alabama. Alabama lined up and ran it down their throats and the Bulldogs had very little to say about it. I personally still believe in Richt and his crew. I think they are going to be madder than all get out, and they do not care what color their jerseys are anymore. That does not sound good for the Vol fans.

As you guessed it, I am picking the GA Bulldogs to have a huge comeback win. I do not look for a let down at all. The only hope for Tennessee is if Arian Foster finds super human strength and does as good as all the running backs that Alabama had.  I do not think it will happen.

Vanderbilt vs Mississippi State, Prediction, 2008

October 8th, 2008

Mississippi State FootballVanderbilt vs Mississippi State, Prediction, 2008. A lot of people are looking past this game. They think that Vandy will take care of the Bulldogs. Vandy is ranked #13. They Beat Auburn. They look real good.

What do I think about Vandy? Well, I am sure you all know by now, that I am not impressed with wins over Auburn this year, not with that offense scheme. Their other nice win came against South Carolina. I am also now convinced that Spurrier is too set in his ways to  caudal the Gamecocks back into contention. I think he has still got it, but he needs talent.

I know that Vandy is on cloud nine right now, but I think it will be very tough for their running quarterback to run against this Croom hard nosed defense. I think both Adams and Vanderbilt FootballNickson will both have problems finding running room. The Bulldogs are very disciplined. It will be hard to catch them off guard.

Mississippi States problem is offense, but they did score 24 points against LSU last week. I am also a huge fan of Anthony Dixon. I think he just needs to be the featured back and get experience. He is a beast.

My pick is an upset. The Miss. State Bulldogs are going to upset the Commodores Saturday afternoon in Starkvegas.  I think they are going to run on Vandy and stop the QB running threat from Vandy.

LSU vs Florida Prediction, 2008

October 7th, 2008

2008 BCS National ChampionshipLSU vs Florida Prediction, 2008. These are 2 teams that really need to prove themselves. LSU has only played Auburn and they barely beat them with their vaunted Tony Franklin offense. Florida has played nobody and lost to Ole Miss.

The problem Florida had against Ole Miss is that Houston Nutt knows how to win in the SEC. You run the ball. You find your best athletes and you put it in their hands. Then you play smash mouth defense. Florida ran into that 2 weeks ago and they did not know what to do. Tim Tebow did not have all the answers.

Glenn DorseyLSU has only played Auburn, and they almost lost to them. Auburn truly was a joke in that game. Their spread offense was offensive. LSU still has huge QB questions. Do not be fooled by their #2 ranking. They are ranked that high because they are undefeated and they are the defending national champs. Well, the heart of that team is gone. This is almost a completely new team.

I pick Florida to come in with an offense that knows what it wants to do.  Tebow will make some big plays. Harvin will make some big plays. The QB problems will be too much for LSU. Their running back, Charles Scott, will never get his feet under him, because Florida will stack the line and rush the inexperienced QB’s. I hope it ends with as much drama as last years game did, but I think Florida will win handily.

AUBURN NEEDS TO FIRE TONY FRANKLIN!

October 4th, 2008

AUBURN NEEDS TO FIRE TONY FRANKLIN! Tony Franklin is completely inept at being a division one college football offensive coordinator. He needs to have his offensive coordinators license revoked. I will hand it to Vandy for being well prepared, but Auburn had the game won in the first half. All they had to do was run the ball.

I completely understand that Vandy stopped Auburn at the goal line on the first drive, but on the way to the goal line, they destroyed Vandy. Auburn was in control.

Tony Franklin is looking for the first reason to pass out of the spread.  He is having a melt down. He has lost his sense of reality, or he is just not good at all.

Tommy Tuberville on the other hand, does not understand offense at all. We all remember the Hugh Nall chronicles. He lets anybody grab a hold of his offense and lets them go willy nilly. Tommy Tuberville is a defensive guy, that is a good “president” of football operations, but he is being a bad head football coach. A good head football coach would be able to stop this kind of stuff from happening on offense.

There is no saving Tony Franklin. He obviously is in way over his head. All they had to do was run the ball and they would have beat Vandy.

There goes the season, if you are an Auburn fan. Things will just get worse. This game is proof that they will not go to the run, even if they are dominating the run game.

Alabama vs Kentucky, Prediction, 2008

October 1st, 2008

Kentucky FootballAlabama vs Kentucky, Prediction, 2008. If you know anything about my predictions, you know I sometimes call for the upset special. I do not always go with everyone else.

Kentucky is undefeated. Their best win comes from in-state rival Louisville. Rich Brooks is coming off a year where he  got a lot of votes for National Coach of the Year. Kentucky does not have the talent that Alabama has, but the spread offense can sometimes be a neutralizer. The Wildcats will always keep defenses guessing.

Rich BrooksAlabama is on a flat ROLL. They are riding high off the win from Georgia. Their freshman talent is shining. The coaching seams spot on. They are ranked #2 in the nation. But, can they stop a let down. Kentucky is going to be ready for this game. Is Alabama going to deflate after last weeks HUGE win?

The answer is no. There will be no upset here. :-) Alabama showed us all that they have great coaching. The Nick Saban era has arrived. What happened last year against Louisiana Monroe should never happen again. Alabama fans are excited and they should be.  I give Kentucky a 10% chance.

Auburn vs Vanderbilt Prediction 2008

September 30th, 2008

Vanderbilt FootballAuburn vs Vanderbilt Prediction 2008. This is a tricky prediction. Auburn has a top 10 team with a high school offense. Vanderbilt is proving themselves and are ranked for the first time in a long time. I am truly happy for them. This is great for them and for the conference.

Vandy  is coming off of an off week. The week before they beat Ole Miss. That win looks more impressive than ever, since the Rebels embarrassed Tebow’s Gators. Nickson is passing and rushing the ball. With a QB that can do that, they’ll  keep teams on their toes, but they need more total offense. They beat South Carolina and Ole Miss by 6 and 7 points respectively.

Mario FanninAuburn, like I said, has a ton of talent. They were preseason ranked 11 for a reason, but that offense is soo bad. The key is that last week was the first week of the new offense that they will run the rest of the season. They have abandoned the straight spread offense. I am sure Auburn fans around the world are happy to hear that.

  • They snapped the ball under center.
  • They had direct snaps to Fannin, that’s the ” Super Mario ” offense.  –> Fannin –>
  • They ran the all more effectively.
  • Burns came in the game.

The problems for Auburn are that the offense still does not have rhythm and Chris Todd floats the ball. Todd is the “Passing” QB and he airs it out right to the defense all the time.

ESPN Game day will be at the game. This is huge for Vandy! My prediction is that Auburn’s offense will get a little better. They have too much talent to continue what they are doing. Vandy’s offense will not get enough against this Auburn defense. Auburn’s defense is the only reason they have not been embarrassed in EVERY game. Auburn will win by more than a TD. If the offense clicks, they might make a statement.
